Follow this road for two miles until you reach Slack Top/Bottom and you then take the road to the right, sign posted for Widdop (Widdop Road). Follow this road for 10 miles until you reach the car park for the reservoir on your right (on Ridehaigh Lane).

Opening times: Open all the time.

Admission: Free

Detail: The reservoir is situated in remote moorland  and is surrounded by rocky crags. There is a short walk from the car park to the reservoir. From here you can follow the path that encircles the reservoir or continue up the hillside to Cludders Rocks and explore the crags.

For those seeking a longer (and more strenuous) walk, you can complete a circular, which takes you across Shuttleworth Moor and down to Upper Gorple and Lower Gorple Reservoirs. This circular walk is 4 miles in total and takes approximately 2.5 hours. It also features a steep climb and steep descent. A map of the walk can be found on Yorkshire Water's website (link below).  The walk across moorland is boggy so ensure suitable shoes are worn. You will also need to wrap up warm as you are exposed to the elements.

Wheelchair/Pram friendly: The route is not wheel friendly as there are steps up to the dam and the walk across moorland is boggy..

Parking and any fees: The Reservoir has a free car park on Ridehaigh Lane, which does not have a height barrier.

Facilities and refreshment options:  There are no toilets or facilities on site but the Pack Horse Inn can found further back on Widdop Road, serving drinks and food. Alternatively there are further options in Heptonstall and Hebden Bridge.
