Hewenden Ridge Viaduct (Great Northern Railway Trail between Cullingworth and Wilsden)

Address: New School Lane, Bradford, BD13 5DA for the Cullingworth Village end of the route or alternatively, the Wilsden Station end is on Station Road, Wilsden BD15 0BS.

Opening times: All the time

Admission: Free.

Detail: The path is the site of the former Great Northern Railway between Cullingwirth and Wilsden, which closed to passengers in the 1950s. The route takes you over the magnificent Hewenden Viaduct which is 123 metres tall and stretches 576 yards across. The viaduct offers great views across the valley and Hewenden Reservoir if you are tall enough but kids will most likely need a lift to take in the views. It took us about 45 minutes to do a casual amble to one end of the walk and we then retraced our steps, so I would leave yourself 1.5 hours to complete the return journey.

Wheelchair/Pram friendly: The route is completely tarmacked and so is very wheel friendly. .

Parking and any fees: Free on-street parking can be found on New School Lane in Cullingworth or on Station Road in Wilsden.

Facilities and refreshment options: There are several cafes in Cullingworth village for before or after you have completed the walk.
