Gordale Scar, Janet's Foss & Malham Cove, Malham

Address: Malham National Park Centre, Malham, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 4DA

Getting there: The nearest train station is Gargrave, which is about 7 miles away. Buses run as follows:

  • Monday to Friday - From Skipton via Gargrave. on Mondays to Fridays (all year) on route 211. 

  • Saturdays - Skipton via Gargrave (Summer until October) on route 75.

  • Sundays and Bank Monday Mondays - Skipton via Gargrave (from Easter until mid-October and also monthly in the Winter months) on route 873/875

  • Cravenlink buses 883 and 884 link Ilkley and Skipton with Gargrave and Malham.

  • There is one through return journey to Malham on Cravenlink bus 883 from York, Harrogate, Otley (for connections from Wakefield and Leeds) and Ilkley. 

  • The Malham Tarn Shuttle bus (service 881) links Malham village, Malham Tarn, Settle and Ingleton, running on Sundays and Bank Monday Mondays from Easter until mid-October. 

  • There's also a through bus from Bradford, Keighley and Skipton to Malham on Wednesdays during the Summer school holidays on Dales Experience service 898.

Opening times: The sights are open all year round.

Distance: There is a circular walk that takes in the sights of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss Waterfall (see walk link). The walk takes three hours. 

Wheelchair/Pram friendly: The circular walk is not friendly but the separate walks towards Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are wheelchair/pram friendly, if attempted as separate walks. For Malham Cove, from the middle of Malham village walk up Cove Road (keep left walking up the village) for approximately 300 yards and the Cove will come into view. For Gordale Scar, a good footpath leads from the road into Gordale Scar.

Parking and any fees: Car parking is available Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Car Park or in Malham village. 

Facilities and refreshment options: There are several pubs and cafes located in Malham.
